Special pre-pre-release version, dedicated to Michael Dunlop!
This is a simple application that allows people with sound input devices (e.g. the built-in microphones on the new Macs, or MacRecorders, etc) to record sounds directly into a snd suitcase (Sound Mover document) rather than have to use Apple’s Sound control panel to record the sounds, then have to open up the System file and copy the sounds into a suitcase.
This application *requires* System 7.0 or greater. <grin> If you try to run it without sys 7, an error message will tell you that you can’t, and the same for running it without a sound digitiser of some sort. (Note: people with external (serial) digitisers should use this in conjunction with the Ribbit or SoundEdit’s driver extensions, which let you use the Sound control panel recording.)
I wrote this program yesterday afternoon, and debugged it today. It is by no means finished, as I intend to add menus to handle About, quality adjustment, the usual file operations, etc; a window listing the sounds in the current suitcase, which can be added to or deleted from, and the sounds played; and many more features. I decided to put together a basic application as a result of a visit by Michael Dunlop yesterday, and here it is! Fast service, eh?
USAGE:
Run the app, and it will ask for a new suitcase file name. After you create a new snd suitcase, it’ll put up the standard sound input dialog, where you can record a sound and play it back. When happy, click Save and you will be asked for a name for the snd resource (sound), whereby on clicking Save it will be saved and you will be returned to the sound dialog to record another one. When finished, click Cancel to quit.
Alternatively, drop an existing Sound Mover suitcase on the app icon, and the new sounds will be added to that suitcase. Good feature, eh?! <grin>
ABOUT:
This app is freeware (until I finish the full version, whereby it will become shareware). Please don’t judge my Shareware based on this program… my Shareware apps have many, many hours work behind them, whereas this app has only a few, and hasn’t been tested nearly as much. If you come across any bugs, please let me know. Rest assured I have checked it, and found it works fine on my machine, but I accept no resposibility if it trashes your hard disk or blows up your Mac.
You may be interested in other programs written by me, including some high quality Shareware applications. Write to the address below, or contact me via e-mail, for more information. If you want to receive the Dejal Userware disk, send US$5 or provide your credit card details (I can accept VISA, MasterCard, Bankcard and American Express, as well as cash & checks in any major currency or international money orders) — I can even accept credit card orders via e-mail!
Feel free to give this away to anyone you like. Enjoy!
